The Czech Republic is part of anFrom 2012 the Czech Republic is part of a programme of another Transnational programme.
In December 2012 the European Commission proposed a start of a new transnational cooperation programme for 2014-2020. Interreg DANUBE includes Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany (Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg), Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.
Projects may involve applicants from the public and private sectors. The Programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Project activities for project partners from the Czech Republic are co-financed by the ERDF up to 85% of total eligible expenditure.
Geographical definition corresponds to the definition of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) adopted in 2011. The macro-strategy and DANUBE Transnational are two different tools for regional policy developed for similar goals but operate on different levels and principles. Overlapping territories and objectives provide an opportunity for cooperation and support in the fulfilment of its objectives; furthermore contribution to the thematic objectives of the strategy through implementation of relevant projects, the programme can also promote institutional cooperation of stakeholders and institutions within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
