How is OP Environment financed?
OP Environment falls under the thematic operational programmes in the Convergence objective and in terms of financial resources is the second biggest Czech operational programme. €4.92 billion has been earmarked for it from the European Regional Development Fund and Cohesion Fund, which amounts to approximately 18.4% of all resources designated for the Czech Republic from the EU funds.
What kinds of activities are supported by OP Environment?
OP Environment contains 8 priority axes dividing the operational programme into logical units, which are further materialised through areas of intervention, or even sub-areas of intervention, which define what types of projects may be supported under the respective priority axis. The priority axes are as follows:
-
Improving water management infrastructure and reducing the risk of floods
-
Improving air quality and reducing pollution
-
Sustainable use of energy sources
-
Improving the quality of waste disposal and rehabilitation of old ecological burdens
-
Limiting industrial pollution and reducing environmental risk
-
Improving the state of nature and the landscape
-
Development of infrastructure for environment education, advisory and awareness
-
Technical assistance
The operational programme was approved by the European Commission on 20 December 2007.
